    Job Summary:

    The Development Officer plays a critical role by supporting Collin College Foundation goals through specific fundraising activities that secure gifts from new and renewed donors and sponsors. The Development Officer will work with individuals, alumni, foundations, corporations, and organizations to increase contributions through annual giving, special events, or other fundraising programs. This position is instrumental in building and sustaining a culture of philanthropy within the college community, contributing to overall fundraising goals and long-term success.


    Required Qualifications:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with colleagues in the Advancement Office and throughout the college district to align annual giving efforts with broader fundraising priorities and institutional goals.
    • Foster positive and enduring relationships among internal and external stakeholders by identifying prospective donors and community partners, implementing strategies, and managing relationships to achieve established goals.
    • Organize and execute foundation fundraising activities, including but not limited to annual fund, employee giving campaign, and events.
    • Secure mid-range and lower-range gifts from prospects and established donors. Renew and upgrade current donors.
    • Personally solicit annual gifts and pledges through various channels, including presentations, phone calls, email, direct mail, and in-person meetings. Prepare communication materials, fundraising appeals, proposals, sponsorship requests, and other necessary documents.
    • Initiate personalized cultivation and provide stewardship for various donors, ensuring a positive donor experience and continued engagement.
    • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and contributions in donor management computer software applications to prepare donor information and reports.
    • Recruit, train, and support volunteers to assist with annual giving efforts.
    • Travel among campuses to attend meetings and/or training sessions.
    • Complete a minimum number of contacts per week.
    • Record actions, notes, and pertinent information in donor database.
    • Conduct prospect and donor research in coordination with the vice president of advancement.
    • Work with the team to develop strategies and implement tactics that will successfully increase support from key constituencies.
    • Participation in departmental meetings, strategy sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance teamwork and knowledge-sharing.

     
    Supplemental Functions

    • Support the Advancement Office with other duties as assigned.
    • Perform all duties and maintain all standards outlines in college policies, procedures and Core Values.

     
    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of fundraising solicitation methods and volunteer management
    • Knowledge of current office practices, procedures and management principles
    • Planning and organizations skills to manage and meet internal and external deadlines for complex projects
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
    • Effective technology skills and ability to master related software including donor database systems, Microsoft Office Suite and other platforms
    • Interpersonal and human relations skills with ability to communicate both orally and in writing in a professional manner representative of the college
    • Ability to professionally represent the Foundation and the college in public and private events, meetings, and discussions to elevate the foundation and college profile while building investment support
    • Ability to participate as a team member, working collaboratively across departments as needed
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, listen attentively, and address all needs and questions as required
    • Ability to use good judgement and work effectively under pressure
    • Ability to work with database queries and understand statistical analyses
    • Ability to complete tasks for basic accounting procedures for disbursement of funds to proper accounts
    • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for events, travel to college campuses and be flexible in environments

     
    Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort


    Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met. Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions. Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards. Office environment. Little physical effort required.


    Requirements


    Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience of professional experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.


    Preferred
    Experience with The Raiser’s Edge, alumni relations, and/or annual fundraising in higher education.
